About us

About the owner

Salvador Isidro Ramos, an immigrant from the small town of Pochutla in Guerrero, Mexico, grew up under the care of his maternal grandparents. They instilled in him a strong work ethic as he assisted them in cultivating their land and tending to their animals. Salvador’s mother, a dedicated single mother, worked tirelessly as a seamstress, crafting napkins and tablecloths to support her five children. From a young age, Salvador began working to help ease the financial burden on his mother.

He began his journey in the restaurant industry as a dishwasher and, with time and dedication, rose to the position of a cook. His primary motivation was to support his mother and siblings.

Salvador pursued his education at the Carlos Rosario Public Charter School in Washington DC, where he not only learned English but also completed the GED program. Each dish he prepares at Taqueria Los Ramos is a testament to his heritage, invoking memories of his youth. Through his culinary creations, Salvador wishes to transport customers back to those times, as if they were alongside his mother and grandmother. He aspires to share a piece of his history and culture with every dish.

His passion for serving others was further ignited when he transitioned to bartending, finding joy in adding a personal touch to everything he served. Taqueria Los Ramos stands as a tribute to Salvador’s maternal lineage, encapsulating the authentic flavors of Guerrero using the freshest ingredients available.
